The thrills, & mainly the spills, of the "Club100 TKM Sprint Series" first round at Buckmore Park

The first round of the "Club100 TKM Sprint Series" held the past 2nd
of March at Buckmore Park, was comprised of some good and some
not so good moments. In a weekend where body contact was king,
Jorge still managed to get a deserved 2nd place.
1st Heat
A random selection dictated that Jorge would start from the last
position of the grid. The plan was to make up as many places as
possible and by "the esses" Jorge had already made up four positions
and was ready to make a move into "paddock" corner but was
squeezed by the driver next to him and both were sent into a spin.
It was the start of a very up and down day.
2nd Heat
Starting from 14th on the grid, Jorge managed to dive down the inside
of the pack on the first corner managing to go past a couple of slower
starters making it up to 12th. By the 5th lap into the race Jorge was up
to 9th pushing hard to get past the drivers in front. Unfortunately an
over-eager driver launched himself up the inside of "hairpin two"
hitting Jorge hard throwing him against the barrier.
Another race over in the worst way possible. Things were not looking
good.
3rd Heat
Qualifying 2nd for the 3rd Heat, Jorge knew he had to make the most
of this advantage. A good start meant that he could pull away from the
pack and concentrate on finishing the race managing to keep 2nd
place right up till the end showing he was not off the pace.
Final
After a great result on the 3rd Heat, things were looking up and Jorge
was confident for the final.
Unfortunately it didn't last long as on the very first lap once again
chaos into "paddock" corner caused some incidents in which Jorge got
involved, ruining for the 3rd time the first race weekend of the season.
We sure hope Jorge has better luck in the next round, on the 20th of
April at the Club 100's home circuit, Rye House. See you there!
